EYEWEAR TRENDS: The Best Optical Wear for Winter 2016

For so long you thought your glasses complicated your life - well get ready for your style revenge!

The leading Fall/Winter fashion shows from around the globe featured optical glasses as the coolest accessory of the year - so much so that many of your vision-unimpaired friends will no doubt be embracing their inner geek and sporting their own fake glasses!

Dress for the season by focusing on warm and dark tones in your frames - the perfect match for your favourite winter woolies.

Below are a selection of our Style Team’s favourite autumn/winter frames for this year. Which ones are your favourites?

Can’t decide?

Never fear, our Free Try At Home service will let you try up to 5 pairs on in the comfort of your own home. Now there’s no excuse for not updating your look this winter!

And remember - all glasses are available as single vision or multifocal now (as well as sunglasses, of course!)

Indah

Indah is the name of one of our customer's children who truly has a favorite frame in our range – so we named it after him.

Miss P

The first to own these was Miss P - a friend of Chung, our software engineer. As a high-school maths teacher she thought these were perfect for keeping her class focussed on sums, whilst also keeping her style!

Photographer

Our super-talented photographer, Susie, looks amazing snapping our website shots in these frames.

Lonesome George

Lonesome George is the name of one of the last known survivors of a species of tortoise from the Galápagos Islands. He's more than 100 years old. Mark paid him a visit some years ago and gave him, and the leafy green surrounds, a nod by naming these glasses after him.

Winery

Sneaking Duck Headquarters is located right beside The Winery. It's a fun crowd, amenable to cool eyewear. And they serve burgundy.

Dexter

2 of Jonaye's favourite things are these frames, and her super-cute schmoodle called Dexter.

Pieno

There's excellent coffee everywhere around our office, but we're particular fans of Pieno. These frames remind us of smooth, brown hot chocolate with lashing of cream, or a latte with caramel. Yum!

Sophisticat

Officewear embraces far more than the old two-piece nowadays. Your outfit still needs to tread carefully, but with a lion's pride. In the Sophisticats, your inner pussycat encourages playful glances over a morning coffee or the daily newspaper. You can't help but turn a few interested heads in these oh-so-serious kittens.

Mayor

We imagine these frames on a 1950's photo of a local mayor. Serious, interesting, perfect for the era.

Indah Sunglasses

Indah is the name of one of our customer's children who truly has a favorite frame in our range – so we named it after him.

Shaman

Our model for these specs lists Shaman amongst his many talents. We don't promise wearing these will help you access the spirit world, but equally we don't promise they won't. Also, the Shamen were a favourite band of Mark a few years ago . . .

Due Diligence Sunglasses

These are a serious pair of specs. So serious that Jodie was thrown back to the serious business of legal due diligence. Hopefully you'll find them a good deal more interesting.

Sub Fusc

Do a Google image search on this one. Sub fusc is the black and white outfit Mark wore to sit uni exams. For real.

Tortuga

Mark's spanish doesn't have much shine, but he does remember enough to describe these frames.

Deppth

From the teen idol of 21 Jump Street to public enemy John Dillinger, Mr Depp has worked hard on his serious side. He has toyed with roles in the confectionary industry, pirating, drug trafficking and hairdressing. If you need a shortcut to turning some heads and achieving some deppth – and possibly a Golden Globe and Sexiest Man Alive award – don some serious frames.

Starlet

Our model for these frames is an up and coming starlet who loves a show tune - she told me these were the perfect Cell Block Tango frames. You'll see what she means when you wear them. They had it coming. . .

Cappsy

Mark's first pair of frames from our range. Only fair to call them what everyone else calls him.

Critic

Perfect for film, theatre and other cultural indoorsy-ness.

Mousse

Lighter then the fluffiest chocolate mousse, you'll hardly notice these on your nose. Less good for licking off I'm afraid.

Edna

Male tortoiseshell cats are almost a genetic impossibility. They're essentially boys in girls' clothing, so we named these frames after our favourite Aussie cross-dresser.

Noggin

You have serious thrill issues if you try to surf the EAC or take on the jellies. But, just like our favourite clownfish, you'd deserve some noggin for trying. Totally.

Professor Pivot

Mark's professorial knowledge of excel functions didn't escape the notice of his workmates. And, if you get the pivot reference – these frames are probably for you!

Chamilla

A royal affair: his 'n' hers tortoiseshell glasses for Charles and Camilla who have been spotted wearing almost identical frames.

Lipari

Jodie loves visiting her origins back in Sicily. The white beaches and translucent blue are evoked in these frames.

Sunset

Like the sun setting over water, these red frames shimmer and glimmer.

Peek-can Pie

We're nuts about these frames. The sneaky wood-contrast arms remind us of a gooey caramelised centre meeting an edge of buttery pastry – pecan pie!

Scrumper's Delight

Come autumn, the apples are ready for harvesting. But there's no need to go pinching them off your neighbour's overhanging tree. Let these round, russet frames be the apples of your eyes instead.

Dexter Sunglasses

2 of Jonaye's favourite things are these frames, and her super-cute schmoodle called Dexter.

Due Diligence

These are a serious pair of specs. So serious that Jodie was thrown back to the serious business of legal due diligence. Hopefully you'll find them a good deal more interesting.

Tortuga Sunglasses

Mark's spanish doesn't have much shine, but he does remember enough to describe these frames.

Pieno Sunglasses

There's excellent coffee everywhere around our office, but we're particular fans of Pieno. These frames remind us of smooth, brown hot chocolate with lashing of cream, or a latte with caramel. Yum!
