We love the people who wear our glasses. Most of all we love their stories. Here is one of them.
Meet Chloe, a Sneaky Ducker whose love for films and helping people led her to the role of People and Culture Manager at Rotor Studios. She talks to us about her new Dexter frames, her pet dachshunds and why she has a tattoo of Mrs Doubtfire on her arm.
- Tell us about yourself and what you do for a living
I’m Chloe and I live in Sydney with my two miniature dachshunds Elliott and Rex. I’m also the People and Culture Manager at Rotor Studios; we’re a full service production company that specialises in CGI, live action content and software development. We create amazing work and have a lot of fun while we’re doing it. I look after our incredibly passionate and talented people and foster an environment where they’re happy and thriving.
- How did you get into human resources?
After I finished my journalism degree, I started as a receptionist at Luma Pictures, a VFX studio in Melbourne. I always considered myself a ‘people person’, but it was through driving Luma’s culture, taking on more HR responsibilities and forming close relationships with the people around me that I knew I was on the right path.
- Highlight of your career so far?
I’ve been part of teams that have organised some pretty wonderful events, like when both of Luma’s studios (in Melbourne and Santa Monica) met up in Maui for a holiday, or the most epic lip sync battle I’ve ever seen, however what I find most rewarding is the impact I am able to have on people on a daily basis. Every person is different and I get my kicks from working out what makes everyone tick and how I can push people forward, both personally and professionally and I’m over the moon that my job allows me to do this. I have highlights of different scales almost every day and that’s pretty awesome.
- We noticed you’re a bit of a film buff. What’s your favourite film or television show of all time?
Mrs Doubtfire; I have such fond memories from when I was younger (it was one of those movies I had on VHS and would watch, rewind, watch again ) that have completely carried through to adulthood. It’s funny, it’s heartfelt and it has Robin Williams – what a combo. I even have a Mrs D tattoo on my arm!
- How did you hear about Sneaking Duck and what do you like about us?
Sneaking Duck popped up in the suggested posts section of my Instagram in late 2015 and I purchased my first pair, the Historian, shortly after! I was drawn to the personality behind the brand and that you help Sneaky Duckers express themselves through your frames.
- Favourite Sneaking Duck frames?
Definitely the Dexter! I’ve always loved black frames, but these ones are a little different and have more retro vibes than I’m used to.…
- If you could have one superpower it would be…
I’d love to be able to speak every language in the world so I could communicate with anyone and things would never be lost in translation (and for this to extend to my dogs, too)!
- 3 things you can’t live without?
Elliott (pictured), Rex and Twitter.
