Sneaking Duck is turning 5 this week which means it’s time to whip out the old photos, crack open the champagne and ‘look’ back on our formative years.
Sneaking Dark started out with a ‘vision’ to let people own a range of frames to suit every outfit and mood, without breaking the bank in the process.
One of our founding fathers, Mark, left his job at Google and partnered with Shoes of Prey’s Michael, Mike and Jodie to make his entrepreneurial dream a reality. 4 months of hard work later, the Sneaking Duck website was officially born!
In 2012, we found our (duck) feet and introduced our famous Try at Home packs. Sydneysiders got first dibs on our free service while the rest of Oz could play around with our just-as-awesome Virtual Try On tool.
We launched our Crystal, Metal and Vintage glasses collections and snapped up two prizes each at the BRW Australian Retailer of the Year and Online Retail Industry Awards. Not bad for our first year hey 😛
2013 got off to a flying start with our ‘Serious Side’ competition. It saw the launch of several new ranges – the Eye Candy, Super Doopers and Tortoiseshell collections – and recognition at the Australian Retail Awards as an Online Retailer of the Year finalist.
We also scored a visit from Bob’s not-so-sneaky cousin – artist Florentijn Hofman’s giant ‘Rubber Duck’ sculpture.
2014 saw us venture into the world of 3D printed frames. This snazzy specs range let you customise frame colour, arm length and even add a personalised message.
We partnered with Clinique to give Sneaky Duckers some free beauty goodies with every order and celebrated our 3rd birthday with limited edition sunnies B)
Can you believe our ducky mascot went 4 years without a name? As well as helping us christen Bob the duck, you guys also styled PM Malcom Turnbull with the Yabbies frames in our first ‘Choose the Frame’ comp!
2015 also quack-started our Sneaky Ducker blog series where we share insight into the creative lives of some of our coolest customers.
Our fifth year has focused on new lenses: Blue Light Lenses and Multifocals to be exact. We also introduced our nifty ‘Style a Friend’ feature for those looking to un-dag their Dads or geeky friends with a Try at Home pack.
We’ve also got a special surprise in store later this year… so stay tuned Sneaky Duckers!
