More and more people are starting to buy prescription glasses online.

WHAT DID THOUSANDS OF MEDIBANK CUSTOMERS SAY?

We asked thousands of Medibank customers who have purchased glasses online what mattered most to them. Below are the key things they came back with (based on their good…and bad, experiences)

That research also showed that if an online glasses retailer doesn’t do at least 80% of these key things well, customer satisfaction drops rapidly. So as a general rule, if the site doesn’t do 4 of the 5 things below excellently you should give it a miss.

If you’ve thought about buying online here are the things you should be looking for to make sure you have the best experience possible.

1. RANGE OF GLASSES

One of the best things about online retailers is that they can carry more styles because they aren’t limited by space. What they can also do is have unique styles, especially where, like Sneaking Duck, we’ve found amazing designers and manufacturers from around the world to help us create our own branded frames.

RayBans are awesome but your online retailer should have a range of styles (not just the ones everyone else is wearing) to help you find the perfect glasses for you.

2. HELP CHOOSING THE RIGHT STYLES FOR YOU

Without a shop assistant to help out, you might feel left alone trying to wade through so many different styles.

At Sneaking Duck we have a fun, but useful, Matching Tool to help you find the right glasses for your face shape and the style you’re after. We also have a Style Team that you can email images to for professional styling feedback. Other sites have other ways of doing this but bottom line, if they’re not helping you find the right glasses for you, they’re not doing a good job.

3. A WAY TO TRY FRAMES ON

Because you can’t try on physically online, like you can in store, there have to be ways for you to try frames on before you purchase.

For instance, as a starting point, Sneaking Duck has a Virtual Try On tool (just upload a pic of your and start trying glasses on).

We also have an awesome, FREE, Try-At-Home service where you can try on up to 5 pairs of frames in the comfort of your home at no charge. We’re not the only store that provides this service but be careful of those that charge you shipping fees (we don’t) or re-stocking fees if you don’t purchase any frames (we don’t do this either).

4. GOOD OLD-FASHIONED CUSTOMER SERVICE

There are lots of ways that getting frames sent out to you to try on or new glasses made up using your prescription can be confusing. Your online glasses retailer MUST have a transparent record of customer service.

As an example. Sneaking Duck has recently asked our customers to start posting reviews for us publicly on Google so there’s full transparency of what buying from us is like (See the reviews HERE). We’re proud of how much people love our service, as every company that’s focused on their customers should be. Other companies have reviews online too so make sure you check them out before you buy.

5. RETURNS POLICY AND WARRANTY

What happens if you don’t like your glasses? Any good online retailer will have a great returns policy. For instance, the Sneaking Duck policy is return for any reason within 30 days for a full refund. They should also have a warranty that abides by consumer protection laws (e.g. Sneaking Duck offers a 12 month warranty on all of our products.)
