So, um… how’s that New Year’s nutrition plan going for you? About as good as ‘oh my God there are triple chocolate hot cross buns ON SALE in February’ right?
So, if the new skinny slef that we sold to you a couple of weeks back didn’t quite stick, let’s talk about loving our chunky side. As in, chunky glasses. And, just like Charlie in his chocolate factory, there are so many DELICIOUS choices!
If we’re talking about beefing things up around here, you cannot go past the King of Chunk, AKA The Cola Bottles. Round in shape, keyhole bridge; two toned acetate as thick as an old glass bottle, these are the statement-maker’s vanilla-cola lovechild. They even come in full tint and half tint sunnies! Uh, like, totes #winning.
There’s something about using different materials in a pair of chunky glasses that really stand out. A chunky tortoiseshell with a delicate golden bridge? Why not! Try the rounded-square tortoiseshell Mother of Turtle frames. They have a random metal bridge where a plastic-continuation-of-frame ought to have been. The effect is an interestingly abrupt square edge to the acetate eye wire. If silver is more your thang, try the same model in painterly grey, Rothko United ‘69.
One misconception is that chunky = dark. But not even sunglasses have to be dark (let alone clear glasses!) Just look how killer these sunnies, The Slugworths, look in a clear chunky plastic with a graduated tint. WOW, we want! Alternatively, go for The Stanley Street with their popping summer colour.
Celebrate the chunk. Check out the gallery here, and select ‘Chunky’. You know you want to!
